Xiaomi, the giant smartphone manufacturer on the rise

The latest Gartner report on the market shares of smartphone manufacturers worldwide during the first quarter reveals several very unusual phenomena, but above all shows that Xiaomi has succeeded in doubling its market share in less than a year worldwide.

Xiaomi, crazy growth

The most critical point of Gartner’s study is undoubtedly Xiaomi. The Chinese manufacturer who has just landed in France displays crazy figures. From one year to the next, its market share rose from 3.4% to 7.4%. This represents an increase of 117.6%.

Opposite, the other big manufacturers are almost standing still. Samsung thus lost 0.3% to 20.5% market share. Apple on its side gains 3%, probably carried by the iPhone X. This represents a market share of 14.1%.

Here is a video on the top 5 Xiaomi Smartphones you might want to consider in 2018!

Huawei between crossfire

In 3rd position and still ahead of Xiaomi for the moment, we find Huawei with 10.5% market share, up 18%. An impressive growth then, but at the same time, the threat of Xiaomi begins to approach seriously. A hunter hunted position that does not necessarily have to be very funny to assume at the moment. Xiaomi overtook oppo on its side since its market shares fell to 7.3% with a decline of 25%. Hard fall that’s probably not over yet.

It is always between these five however that the competition is played. The others, under Android, now represent only 40% of the market completely fragmented, against 44.9% last year. As for market shares between mobile OSs, Android also lost 0.2% over the same period. The right figures of the last iPhones represent a real advantage for Apple.

The Cupertino firm is also taking advantage of Samsung and Oppo’s weaknesses. These are caused by calendar problems, particularly with two models launched at the end of the quarter. It will, therefore, be interesting to see the situation at the end of the second quarter to get a more accurate picture of the market situation.
