By 2018, $110 billion will be spent on mobile applications.

Indeed, as the study at the end of October points out: “In just a decade, the app economy has evolved in many ways with more than 3.5 and 2 million apps on Google Play and the Apple App Store respectively.

The platforms can expect to see a 30% increase in the number of downloads next year. Some platforms will generate more than $110 billion in revenues.

Games account for the bulk of these figures and growth.

In fact, video games alone account for more than three-quarters of sales, with well-functioning business models such as the “Free” versions, or even In-App purchases. 2018 could well be the year of the democratization of augmented reality, with games like Pokémon Go, Ingress or Warcraft… Moreover, all the giants are already in the starting blocks, like Facebook, Google, or Apple…

A booming industry

The download platforms are under attack from publishers and last month alone, some 150,000 new apps were added to the Play Store and 50,000 to the App Store.
Knowing that users spend an average of two hours a day on their mobile applications, it is easy to understand that the figure of 30% can easily be reached or even exceeded next year…
